iPhone 3.0

Who really knows what will come of it. What I have to say though is that the pundits and even experts have set the bar low, or are not heavy users of the iPhone itself.

So, in response to all that mob. Here is my list of basic functionality to include with 3.0

SMS
1) forward with editing
2) draft

3) making use of contact groups

4) Send contact info
5) That missed call alerts from your carrier don’t end up as undeletable SMS in a contact’s message stream, messing with the unread notifier’s head

EMAIL
1) making use of contact groups
2) send contact info
3) to attach more than one thing, photo & contact, 2 contacts...
4) Email conversation viewing option as with SMS

INTELLIGENCE
1) More flexible / intelligent (contextual) virtual keyboard templates

2) Syncing of autocomplete functions between OSX and iPhone, such as email address

3) access to custom dictionary to correct and manually add, include syncing with mac cust dictionary
4) More consistent use of forms data entry handling across safari, os and apps

5) Improved web form recognition, reshaping for screen and editing (seeing two lines of a barely scrollable text box with difficult cursor placement is a struggle)

6) consistent experience and UI feedback when keyboard decides you want continuous delete!
7) the os x data detectors to make a contact or a cal event etc
8) Spotlight

APPS
1) unified “helper/server” that operates through or is installed with iTunes that allows all apps to interact with desktop (instead of each one having its own installable helper)
2) Clickable links in the iPhone based Appstore to go to developer pages
3) Being able to view purchased apps in a list on Appstore;regardless of installed state

4) All apps being able to offer one-click link back for writing reviews and giving ratings
5) Background apps by whatever method. it will be a iphone revolution when facebook/twitter can tell you when updates are ready to see. App / net use will get another level of unprecedented surge

SPRINGBOARD
1) Home screen pages offering faster navigation (like up/down/left/right to get to 4 screens in 1 swipe)

2) Auto ordering of Apps on home screens by Appstore category

3) Being able to one touch change wireless settings from home screen (menu bar or something)

CALENDAR ETC
1) for all those who ache for it, cal, to do and notes sync
